Annette Obrestad’s first appearance in the WSOP was expected by many to be awe-inspiring; while it is relatively early in the WSOP 2010 run with weeks to go before the big top Main Event action begins.
Obrestad caught the poker world’s attention as a teenager in Norway, playing under the name of Annette_15, the name under which a legend grew. Later she won the inauguaral WSOP Europe in 2007 – she was a day away from turning 19, and so years away from appearing in the WSOP in the US, where players must be 21.
Since turning 21 in September Obrestad let it be known she’d play the WSOP – and recently sparked some controversy with negative comments during an ESPN interview, comments deriding both women poker players and the Godfather of Poker, Doyle Brunson.
